Artist Statement
Andrea Mendola is a life-long artist who strives to communicate a deep respect of the natural world and humanity through her work. She believes that through observation, thoughtful consideration, and intention, the process of creativity brings us a deeper understanding of the world, each other, and ourselves. It is these ideas, a passion for learning, sensitivity to the individual, and a sense of adventure and play, which Andrea practices as an artist, and shares with her students.
Andrea received her BA in education from the University of Arizona, and currently works throughout Tucson, teaching drawing and painting to youth and adults. She studied art in Arizona and Santa Fe, New Mexico and has worked as a muralist in Arizona for over twenty years. For many years, Andrea has most enjoyed drawing the human form, and portraiture. Her recent passions are pastel painting and animal portraiture. Andrea is currently pursuing her own art practice in her studio here at Artist Studio Co-op in Tucson, Arizona.
