ARTIST STATEMENT
Janny Taylor
Imagine vividly. Daydream with purpose. Create from the heart.
My art reflects that which captures and ignites my imagination; that which “hits” me in a strong enough way that I feel compelled to document and share this inspired “flash.” I assemble, collage, paint, and write.
I studied at Parsons School of Design and The Art Students League (NYC); I authored and illustrated two books, “Our Lady of Weight Loss” and “All Is Forgiven, Move On” both published by Penguin Publishing. My art has been featured in various museums and galleries both nationally and internationally, and I have been awarded a number of prizes in juried shows.
In addition, I have been featured in a many national magazines and newspapers including The New York Times, The Chicago Sun Times, Los Angeles Times, CNN, more Magazine, Good Housekeeping, Family Circle and O, the Oprah Magazine, where I was deemed a “kooky kind of genius.”
Most recently, I have been enjoying the sounds of the birds, tending my garden, communing with the lizards and most definitely feeling the mysterious energies of Tucson that inspire.
